There are others out there. Others who know about crap.

Adam notes that the U.S. Government has been threatened by a religious zealot, yet this man continues to walk free. Of course, it's "just a joke." Does anyone else get the feeling that had, oh, Al Franken made a similar comment, he'd already have been hustled down to Gitmo?

The Texas GOP is hellbent on making themselves the sole representatives of anglos. Demographic trends ensure that blacks and hispanics will far outnumber anglos soon.

So in 10 or 20 years, once the "mood of the country changes" and Texas is once again represented by Democrats wholly at the state level, will the Republicans be eager for redistricting?

I think not.

Of course, the fat ladies of the U.S. judiciary haven't sung yet. If the recent past is any guide, the greedy GOP won't get to have their cake and eat it too.

It strikes me as very odd that anti-government types like the GOP are eager for U.S. tax dollars to be given to Iraqis to build schools, hospitals, police and the like, while federal funding for such here in the U.S. needs to be cut in favor of the free market.

Shouldn't we let the free market take care of Iraq? Certainly, this is a perfect laboratory for everything that the right has been claiming for years -- that minimal government and the reliance on "market forces" will create Heaven on Earth. Let the Iraqis build their own roads, their own schools, their own hospitals -- if the demand is there, then certainly some Iraqi entrepreneur will fill the need. Let the Iraqis fend for themselves -- that would seem to be what the GOP would want in any other case.

Well, in any case where oil isn't involved, I suppose.
